Last night (Wednesday) several of the team leaders and support drivers were given an extremely beneficial first aid briefing by Sister Kathy Timm. She will be with me as the medical officer for all nine days of The Journey and we will be in relatively close range of any of the groups at all times should an emergency situation arise.
Each of the team leaders will carry a small but well-provisioned first aid kit with her at all times in the event of medical requirements.
As well as briefing us on the contents of these kits, Kathy also ran us through the exact procedure for performing CPR... with some often hilarious moments to lighten the mood.
